Aaj Thalaivar ka movie release hua hai ... Par main kush nahi hun!

Come tomorrow, Rajani's a.k.a Thalaivar's much awaited Chandramukhi would be simultaneously screened across the country and I'm sure every inch of Tamil Nadu would be titivated with humongous cut-outs by religiously celebrating Rajani Fans. That’s just a glimpse of my imagination.

You know… making it to the ‘First Day First Show’ to Thalaivar’s movies that too if you are not a “rasigar mandram” member is as tough as cracking CAT or IIT-JEE (huh…That was quite an understatement). I still have fresh memories of how these so called ‘Thalaivar evangelists’ celebrated Padaiyappa.. Well.. I was not in Coimbatore when BABA was released.

Today I’m in Pune…. This is where my story starts.

Let me tell you.. I'm not one of those absolute followers of Rajani Cult. But I’ve already procured a ticket to Chandramukhi (more than a day in advance). There was a strong urge from within to perform that act. I couldn’t believe what I was doing. My restlessness didn’t stop till I got a ticket for tomorrow’s show.

After a long thought… I got the reason.

It was not the linguistic affinity that made me do that act. Nor the “home away” syndrome… not that I didn’t have anything else to do… It’s probably because I’m missing someone who is a devout Rajani fan (mandram uruppinar) who wouldn’t have missed the first day first show of Chandramukhi. He would have been more than happy if he gets that ticket. This is for that friend of mine who celebrates Rajani’s birthday even when he is broke. He might miss his own birthday (NOT EXAGERATING ) not thalaivar’s .

He would have distributed sweets to strangers in the streets to celebrate the release of this movie as if he is one of the stake holders. He would have climbed the high gates of the movie hall to ensure his ticket (and mine too). He would have whistled at the very first slide of “NO SMOKING, THANKS”. Would have cried at the height of his pitch when the background music of Rajani’s introduction is played in the movie. Would swear words at the pious villain who hits thalaivar first (apparently gets beaten up by Rajani’s flying kick) Lastly, would not mind taking a tiff with the big guy next to him who feels thalaivar is aging.

This guy is … miles away in a foreign land… alone and fighting (Singa kutty). I know what you are going through…I just want to assure you that I’ll be there… forever. I wish Singapore is just an hour away from me. You will last… tough times won’t. This one is for you da. MY SMALL TRIBUTE. GIRI, Miss you da.
