Testimonies

Every community networking site today features a blaring column which begs for testimonies and people do scrap a few lines about you. Had people known about the etymology of the word, I believe they might think twice before writing a testimony for someone!!

The resemblance between testimony, testify, testis, and testicle shows an etymological relationship, but linguists are not agreed on precisely how English testis came to have its current meaning. An old theory has it that the Romans placed their right hand on their testicles and swore by them before giving testimony in court.

So.. do think if you really want to give a testimony for anyone!! Unfortunately, this doesn’t stop any woman to give testimonies!!
